Kate Ferrell creates intuitive abstract and abstracted representational paintings, including landscapes & botanicals. Working with acrylic, collage, and other mixed media, she builds expressive, gestural movement into her work.

Her love for creating landscapes and botanicals was shaped by carefree childhood summers in the Great Smoky Mountains and by her mother’s garden and floral designs. Her connection to the outdoors and her part time social work practice offer glimpses of both the beauty in nature and the inner beauty of every person. Her art provides space to process what feels heavy, give voice to emotions beyond words, and share the beauty she finds in the world with others.

Believing that both viewing and creating art are acts of mindfulness, Kate approaches each piece with a sense of presence, allowing spontaneity to guide her process. Her work conveys freedom, groundedness in the present moment, and the feeling of being fully alive. She is driven by collaboration, giving back, and art’s capacity to heal.

Originally from Knoxville, Kate is now based in Nashville, TN, where she lives with her family. She is a part-time Licensed Clinical Social Worker at a local nonprofit and teaches mindfulness-based fitness at Barre3 Nashville. She has exhibited and sold paintings across Nashville and the Southeast, sharing her belief in art’s ability to inspire and bring people together.
